How Can God Die?

The most fundamental truth of Christianity is the fact that God died for mankind. This fact is an offense to Muslims. In fact, this truth has been a stumbling block for people for thousands of years. Muslims refuse to accept the death of God because they do not know God. They do not understand the power or love of God.

Isa Al-Masih Was God Clothed in Flesh.

To understand how God could die, we must understand the person of Isa Al-Masih (Jesus Christ).  If Isa was just a mere man, as Islam believes, then God did not die. To believe that you have to deny God’s Holy Word. According to the Injil (Gospel), Jesus was God clothed in flesh.  The Injil tells us, “…the Word (Isa) was with God and the Word (Isa) was God…” (Injil, John 1:1).  Isa Al-Masih is the eternal Word of God.

Can the Eternal Word of Allah Be Destroyed?

Muslims believe the Quran is the eternal Word of Allah. They believe the words of the Quran are eternal and can never be destroyed. They can never be destroyed because they have always been with Allah.  These words will always be with Allah. If that is the case, then the Quran is indestructible.  We all know that if a Muslim’s house burns-down, the Quran inside the house will burn too.  The fire will utterly destroy it!  So the words of the Quran can be destroyed.

The Quran Is Paper and Ink.

Muslims understand that the Quran that burned-up with the house was just a physical expression of the eternal Word of Allah. The Quran that burned-up was the divine Word of Allah in the physical form of paper and ink. The words of Allah are eternal, but they took on the form of paper and ink that can be destroyed.

Isa Al-Masih, the Eternal Word of God, Died on the Cross.

In the same way, Isa is the eternal Word of God.  He took the physical form of the body of a man (not paper and ink). The human body, as we all know, can die. It is destructible.  Nevertheless that does not mean the eternal Word of God ceased to exist at the crucifixion. After the physical death of His mortal body, Isa Al-Masih rose again.  In his eternal body, He ascended back to the Father. Isa said after he rose from the dead, “…I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God” (Injil, John 20:17).

The Word in Paper and Ink, the Word in a Human Body

If a Muslim believes that a Quran made of paper and ink can be destroyed without destroying the eternal Word of Allah, why is it so hard to accept the death of the true Word of God? This should not cause offense to the Muslim, but rejoicing. God visited man! The eternal Word of God in the form of man allowed Himself to be destroyed in the flesh. Thus, we can be made alive in His resurrection. Isa Al-Masih said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies” (Injil John 11:25).

Do You Believe in the Eternal Word of God?

Islam believes that the words of the Quran are the eternal words of God. Christians believe Isa Al-Masih is the eternal Word of God. The eternal words of Islam take the form of paper and ink and are mass-produced by printing presses.   They accidently get destroyed in fires or lost in floods. The true, eternal Word of God came in the form of man. He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life. He died for the sins of the world. He rose from the dead and ascended back to heaven.  He gives people who believe in Him and His works eternal life. In which eternal Word of God do you put your faith?

We invite you to visit us at http://www.isaandislam.com/way-of-salvation to learn more about God’s Eternal Word and Salvation in Isa Al-Masih.  God loves you and waits to hear from you.

You say the Qur'an is paper and ink. Yes, it is, because it is a copy of a book. If you want to see the original Qur'an, it's is not paper and ink. Try to discover it in Mecca.

Shaquille,

If the original Qur'an is not paper and ink, then what is it?

I think the understanding of the nature of the human soul will help us understand this subject. The human soul is a product of the breath of God. It is part of God and this makes it eternal.

Man sinned against God and only the shedding of (spotless)blood was able redeem the fallen man. All men have sinned (Romans 3:23). No one is qualified to pay the price. Not Even the Angels!

Because of the everlasting love that God has for man He decided to come down to earth Himself to atone for our sin. He had to become flesh to die so He came in the person of His Son-Jesus. God did this because He knows the value of the human soul. He knows the soul will live forever and without redemption it will be in the torments of hell. He wants us to spend our eternity in His paradise.

But we must believe in this Jesus not as a prophet but as our only hope for Salvation. He is the Lord and Savior of our souls. Let's come to Him for He has promised not to cast us out. Amen!

Holyboy,

Thank you so much for your comment! You are right that only our sin could be paid for through the blood of Jesus. If anyone would like to know more about how you can do this, go to the "Way of Salvation" tab at the top of the page.
