Is the Belief, “The Quran is Preserved, But the Injil Is Not”, Logical?

22 July 2015 by Jasmin 1 Comment

bigstock Quran Page 36965635Muslims claim that God has kept the Quran pure. “Indeed, it is We [Allah] who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian” (Qs 15:9).

The Quran also commands Muslims to believe in the previous Revelations: the Taurat, Zabur, and Injil. “Say, ‘We believe … in that which was given to Moses, Jesus, and the Prophets by their Lord. …’” (Qs 3:84).

But Islam teaches that these Revelations have been corrupted. “Allah has told you that the people of the book [Jews and Christians] distorted Allah’s book and changed it” (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 9, Book 92, No. 461).

If the Taurat, Zabur, and Injil are also God’s Word, how does one reconcile Allah’s claim in the Quran that “… the words of God do not change …” (Qs 10:64)?

Reconciling the Contradictory Claims of the Quran

Therefore, a Muslim has four choices:

1. The Quran is preserved and the earlier Revelations are corrupted. If so, Allah is either weak or unjust. That is the only explanation for why He would preserve the Quran and allow the other Revelations to be corrupted.
2. The Quran is corrupted like the other Revelations. If this is true, Muslims shouldn’t read the Quran just like they won’t read the other Revelations.Kitab 01
3. The Quran is preserved, as well as the previous Revelations. This means Muslims should also read the other Revelations.
4. The Quran is corrupted but the earlier Revelations are preserved. If this is true, Muslims should then abandon the Quran and read the earlier Revelations.

Option Three’s Problem

If you pick option three, you will be faced with another problem. The Quran contradicts the previous Revelations in many essential points. Can God reveal a message that contradicts His previous message?

The Key Message of the Previous Revelations

ReligionThe main contradiction between the Quran and the other Revelations is about Isa Al-Masih. The Taurat, Zabur, and Injil all agree that Isa died for us. “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him [Kalimat Allah, Isa Al-Masih] the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). We invite you to take a closer look at why Isa died.

Isa clearly said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Injil, John 14:6).
