Why Christians Choose the Bible, Not the Quran

22 July 2013 by Caleb Rahmat 86 Comments

Kitab-13Have you ever tried to compare the Quran and the Bible? You will discover there is a big difference between the two books. The Bible is full of prophecies, whereas the Quran is not.  What God tells us through His Prophets about things to come is called “prophecy.”

Testing the Quran and the Bible through Prophecy

The only way you can know a book is from God is if the prophecies in the book come true. True prophecies are very specific. Some Muslims claim “And when books spread abroad” (Qs 81:11) is a prophecy. Books were spread abroad at the time of Muhammad. But this is not a prophecy. It is too general. Therefore, we can’t test the Qur’an to see if it is really from God based on a “prophecy” like that.

On the other hand, God’s prophet Micah prophesied 500 years before the coming of Isa Al-Masih that He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:1-2). This is a true prophecy. It gives a specific location of where, in the future, something would take place.

The Bible gives us many more prophecies as well. It records God’s words given through many of His prophets on things to come. These prophecies can be tested. They have been tested, and found to be true. This is why Christians believe the only Book from God is the Bible.

The Quran Cannot Be Testedbigstock-Quran-Page-36965635

If the Quran had fulfilled prophecies in it, like God’s Book, there would be a reason to believe it. But it does not. We can’t test the Quran. No, you just have to believe that Muhammad received it from the angel Gabriel. You have to believe the words of one man are more accurate than the words of many prophets.

We encourage our readers to comment on the article above. Comments that don’t directly relate to the topic will need to be removed. Please start a dialogue with us by focusing on one of the following questions:
1.    Why is focusing on fulfilled prophecy a good way to determine if a religious book is from God?  Is there a better way?
2.    Which of the fulfilled prophecies listed in this article gives the best proof that the Bible is the true Book of God?  What prophecies do you think are not valid.
3.    Why do some people, in spite of the list of fulfilled prophecies, still reject the Bible as the Book of God?

Jesus is real. I suffered from spine problems which doctors couldn’t cure. I was on four types of pain medications and pain persisted. I went to a church, They prayed for me. I discontinued medication believing in Jesus and I was healed. There was no side effect, no more pain.

I’ve decided to become a living testimony of Jesus who is seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (Injil, John 14:6). .

      Hans,

Thanks for your comment. Kalima Allah took the form of human being so that He could die to redeem the punishment of sin. A human being dies, but God can’t! When we say that Isa died, it’s His body that died. If the Bible predates the Quran then it would imply that God messed up somewhere with the Bible and it had to get some guy to make the Quran, right?

Because as stated in the Bible, the Word of God cannot be changed and is eternal. So for Muhammad to have written the Quran; let’s say that he got it from an Angel which was sent from God would mean that God messed up His own Word which is impossible. It would mean that God contradicted Himself. And because God is perfect and the word says that His word is eternal and there is proof of the stories of the Bible, it would mean that the Quran is not true. The Bible is the only right word of God.

      Jon,

Thank you for writing us a comment in regards of the article above. You are right that when someone claimed that the predated revelation was corrupted, he meant that God can contradict Himself.

In fact, the current Bible is the same as the original transcripts. The Christians have complete manuscripts from the third and fourth centuries. Therefore, the Bible should be trusted. Here is the link to explain why the Bible should be trusted: https://www.isaandislam.com/The-Bible/should-muslims-trust-the-bible.html.

      Blessings.

The common problem of Christians with Islam is due to their ignorant of the Noble Quran.

The writer of this article needs to seek the real knowledge of the heaven and earth which can only be found in the Holy Quran. Al-Quran is a threat to disbelievers and admonition to the God’s fearing.

Muhammad only came to confirm the message that came before him (Gospel, Torah) The Holy Quran summarized the origin of Jesus (pbuh) in the book of (Al-I-Imran) yet the hypocrites among the Christendom invented a lie against (Allah) and said they crucified him. Q3vs61: “Now who so disputes with you in this matter of (Jesus) after there has come to you true knowledge, then say to him, ‘Come let us summon our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and our people and your people, then let us pray fervently one against the other and invoke the disapproval of Allah upon the liars”.

      Dear Ahmed,

Thank you for your comment. Why would you trust to the book which couldn’t be proven? As mentioned in the article, we can test the Bible, but we can’t with the Quran. We can test the Taurat, the Zabur, and the Injil, but not with the Quran. So, how do you believe in God through the book which can’t be tested?

Bible is one of our books. Jesus is a great prophet.
Good questions. 1. The word of God cannot really be tested well because that amounts to look for ways to justify faith. Faith is supremely disconnected from doubt. The Quran is the miracle but this fact can only be pointed at but not proven. It is made up of signs. If one reads the signs one can plot the reality, but the reality cannot be established except intellectually thereby. The experience of reality or reality (the God of Moses, Abraham, Isaac, David and Jesus) is, nonetheless available by treading the path that is pointed at by the signs in an exercise that develops and recognizes the faith which has no handhold, no test, no proof except in the reward for the search of reality.

      Dear Mohamed,

Thank you for your comment. If Muslims accept the Bible as God’s Holy Book, then why does the Quran contradicts with the Bible? Also, how can you know that something is real if you can’t test or prove that it’s real? By the way, have you ever read the Bible?
