I was born into a Muslim family. But when I was a child, my parents received Isa Al-Masih as their Savior. After their conversion, we started going to church every Sunday.
Shamans, Sacred Places, and Christianity
Even though my parents claimed to believe in Isa, they held on to some of their old beliefs. They went to see shamans and visited sacred places. Once a month we went to our ancestor’s grave. We would ask them for a blessing and protection. I became confused. I didn’t really understand what Christianity or eternal salvation was.
Going to Church without Knowing Isa
After I was married, my faith in Isa started sinking. I didn’t really know Him. I had not yet believed in Isa as my Savior or obeyed His teachings. I did many Christian things, like attending church, prayer meetings and Bible studies. And I tried to live according to the teachings of the Bible. But I always failed. However, I still considered myself a very good person.
I Was Afraid of Dying
In 1995, a doctor told me that I had an illness in my neck called “Ankylosing spondylitis.” There is no cure for this disease. I also suffered from decreased function in my hands and feet. These illnesses caused me to be fearful, because if I died, I did not know for sure if I was saved.
I Received Isa Al-Masih After Hearing a Bible Verse.
In 2002, I made a decision to study the Bible at a school of evangelism. One day in class I heard a message that changed my life. The instructor was teaching on “eternal life.” The verse he used was, “I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life” (I John 5:13). These words encouraged me to receive Isa as my personal Savior, and I invited Him into my life.
I Am Saved!
By faith I received Isa Al-Masih as my personal Savior. Since that time I have truly experienced Isa as a reality in my life. I now feel at peace, and I no longer fear death.
