What comes to your mind when you hear the word “trinity”? Many people think Christians are polytheists! However, that is a misunderstanding about the trinity. So what does the word mean? Maybe the following explanation will help.
The Concept of the Trinity According to the Bible
The Quran says, “They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity” (Qs 5:73). Christians agree with that statement! The idea that Christians worship three gods is a lie. True Christians have always believed that there is only one God. “There is no God but one” (The Injil, 1 Corinthians 8:4).
The term “trinity” is used to explain the idea that God exists as a unity of three Persons. It does not mean there are three Gods. Rather, there are three Persons who have always existed together as One God.
A common reaction is, “This doesn’t make sense.” Christians are quick to agree! There is not a totally rational explanation of the trinity. After all, human minds are finite and God is infinite. We all live with many mysteries.
An Explanation about the Three Persons in the Godhead
God the Father, God the Word, and God the Spirit are presented in the Holy Injil as the three Persons in the trinity. All three of them are presented as divine. They are eternally linked in unity as one God.
This is seen in many verses. One example is when Isa commanded His apostles to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son [Isa] and of the Holy Spirit” (The Injil, Matthew 28:19).
It is important to note that “in the name” is singular. Isa did not say “in the names.” God is One. But He reveals Himself as the eternal Triune Being – God the Father, God the Word, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Word of God
Christians believe God is one, not three. Isa quoted the Law given to Moses: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one” (The Taurat, Deuteronomy 6:4; The Injil, Mark 12:28-31).
Isa Al-Masih, the Eternal Word, is the only one who can give you salvation. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given to men by which we must be saved” (the Injil, Acts 4:12).

Isa clearly said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Injil, John 14:6). Christians claim that their God is a Trinity, three persons in one God. God existed before creation when nothing was there. So it is impossible for God to change and become part of 3 persons. Logically, God cannot be separated into parts.

Dear Akhnuwkh,
If God follows human logic and things are impossible for Him, then he is just a human not the Almighty.
Jesus, the Word of God, is with God from the beginning and all things were made by Him. Jesus loves you and died for your sins. We invite you to accept Jesus Christ as your God and Savior for the repentance of your sins so you can go to heaven.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3 KJV)
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11 KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6 KJV)
“But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins,” (Mark 2:10 KJV)
“that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” (Romans 10:9-11 KJV)

Injil is the revelation given to Jesus but it is not the Holy Bible. This is the fundamental problem with understanding the Quran. As a Muslim, what God revealed to us to believe is not the Bible.

Dear Akhnuwkh,
The Quran instructs Muslims to read the Bible to find the truth (Qs 3:3) because Jesus was sent as the guidance and the light for the righteous (Qs 5:46). Muslims are commanded to obey Jesus because He is the Straight Way and the Sign at the Judgement Day (Qs 43:61-63, 3:55-56). Finally, anyone who rejects the Faith in Jesus will be severely punished (Qs 3:4, 2:87-90).
“He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. Before, as guidance for the people. And He revealed the Qur’an. Indeed, those who disbelieve in the verses of Allah will have a severe punishment, and Allah is exalted in Might, the Owner of Retribution” (Qs 3:3-4).
“And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous” (Qs 5:46).
“And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me” (Qs 43:61-63).
