Jesus – A Sign To Men

27 August 2011 by Web Administrator 6 Comments

Arrow Sign

“And (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign to men…” (Qs 19:21)

How is Jesus a sign to men? Signs are important.  Without signs people are lost and finding their way is almost impossible.  We put signs on our highways, we name or number our streets and our homes have signs so friends can find us.  Signs also warn us of dangers ahead. They may even point out a bump in the road or a construction crew at work.

Jesus’ Miraculous Birth Was a Sign to Men

Jesus’ birth through the Virgin Mary was a special sign. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and you will call him Immanuel” (Prophet Isaiah 7:14).  Virgins do not bear sons. It never happens and if it does, it is a miracle.  God was giving advance notice that someone special would be born. He would in fact be called a name that tells us who He is. He would be known as Immanuel, which means “God is with us.”

The Miracles Jesus Performed Were a Sign to Men

Jesus the Messiah is a sign of God’s love for the people He created. The apostle John tells us, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (Injil, John 3:17). How does Jesus save the world?  While Jesus was on earth He saved many sick people by healing them physically. He saved blind people from their darkness by giving them sight.  He saved deaf people from their deafness by restoring their hearing. These were all clear signs telling people Jesus really was Immanuel.

The Greatest Sign to Men Was Jesus Dying for a Sinful World

The greatest Sign of God’s love was that Jesus died for our sins. He did not deserve to die, because He was “a sinless Son” (Qs 19:19). We are the guilty ones. We have all done things that displease God.  We are all sinners. Only Jesus was without sin. Still Jesus Himself said, “I lay down my life for my sheep only to take it up again” (Injil, John 10:17). He died taking upon Himself your sin and my sin. He came to save the world. And He rose again just as He promised.

Jesus Wants to Save You from Your Sins and the Punishment of Hell

Truly Jesus is a sign to Men. He stills saves people from their sin and guilt by forgiving them and setting them free from bondage. He saves them from the punishment of Hell. He wants to do that for you. He takes away the burden of sin and replaces it with the joy of a loving relationship with Himself. So how can this happen? It is as simple today as it was when Jesus was on earth.

Repent and Seek Salvation in Jesus Christ

Hubungan-Dgn-AllahJesus preached, “Repent and believe the good news” (Injil, Mark 1:15). You repent when you turn away from your sin and from trying to save yourself. You believe by asking Jesus to save you and forgive you. Then Jesus will be more than just a sign to men, He will be your personal Savior that gives you eternal life. You will be one of His sheep, and He will be the Good Shepherd who walks with you every day.

He said: “Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord,
(to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.
    (Surah 19:19)

Please, it does not say sinless son, it says ”holy son”. Please represent the Quran accurately.

      Muslim,

Holy means pure and sacred. When he was born he was holy. During his life, he was also sinless.

All Muslims know that everyone does and thinks things that are wrong. Those wrong actions and thoughts are called “sin.” We all have sinful nature, or character (Romans 3:23).  To learn more about sin, go to this link: https://www.isaandislam.com/christian-beliefs/the-bible-teaches-that-mankind-fell-into-sin.html and also: https://www.isaandislam.com/Isa-Al-Masih/are-you-a-muslim-carrying-a-load-of-sin-there-is-help.html

‘Holy’? An Arab Muslim rebuked me for this: He said, only Allah is ‘holy’ we cant use this word for any one or anything else. So what does “Zakyh” mean in the English language?

    Surah 19:19 (Sahih International)
“‘He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy.”‘[/b]

(Muhsin Khan) “‘(The angel) said: I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son.”‘[/b]

(Pickthall) “‘He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a faultless son.”‘

(Yusuf Ali) “‘He said: “Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.”‘

(Dr. Ghali) He said, “Surely I am only a Messenger of your Lord to bestow upon you a most cleansed youth.”

So, Isa was born pure, righteous, most cleansed, faultless, holy, but not ‘sinless’ ? What is the difference?

    Injil, Hebrews 9:14a (CEV)
“But Christ was sinless, and he offered himself as an eternal and spiritual sacrifice to God.”

    Injil, Hebrews 7, 26 (CEV)
“Jesus is the high priest we need. He is holy and innocent and faultless, and not at all like us sinners. Jesus is honored above all beings in heaven.”

    Injil, 1 Peter 2, 22 (NIV)
“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”

Thank you for your comment. The Bible taught that Jesus (Isa) was sinless. Sinless means without sin. As a baby, Isa was pure, faultless, holy, and sinless. As he grew up, He was tempted in every way, yet He was still without sin (Injil, Heb
