When someone lies to you, how do you feel? Do you feel betrayed? Will you trust that person again?
Is Allah a deceiver to His people? The Quran states, “And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers” (Qs 3:54). According to this statement, Allah deceives people and He is the best Schemer. If this is true, can His promises be trusted?
Allah Deceived People During Isa Al-Masih’s Crucifixion
Muslims believe that Isa Al-Masih was not crucified, but it was someone who looked like Him.
The Jalalayn interpretation explains Surah 3:54. “(The disbelievers schemed) means . . . the Israelites towards Isa Al-Masih because they appointed someone who would kill Him secretly (and God schemed against them) by changing someone else’s face into Isa Al-Masih’s face so that they killed that person while Isa Al-Masih ascended to heaven (and God is the best of schemers.)”
If Allah deceived people in this case, is Allah a deceiver in other instances? If so, can he really be trusted?
Satan is a Deceiver According to the Injil
According to the Injil, Allah can’t deceive because He is Holy. Only Satan is the master schemer who deceives people. But, Allah protects people from evil when they believe in Him and Isa Al-Masih. (Injil, 2 Thessalonians 2:8-10, 3:3-5).
Prophecy About Isa Al-Masih’s Crucifixion
Isa Al-Masih prophesied about His crucifixion. “. . . They will condemn him [Isa] to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be . . . crucified . . .” (Matthew 20:18-19). The prophecy was fulfilled when the Roman soldiers “. . . crucified him [Isa] . . .” (Matthew 27:35).
Muslims may ask what are evidences of Isa Al-Masih’s crucifixion?
