Salvation is being saved from God’s judgment. All of us need salvation. Otherwise, we can’t get to Heaven!
Muslims believe God will save them if they do good deeds. They must accumulate enough good deeds to outweigh bad deeds. If this happens, salvation is in hand! Is this belief true? Because in other Islamic texts, such as the Hadith, Muhammad taught that good deeds can’t give Salvation.
Muhammad Is Not Sure Of Heaven!
Narrated by Abu Huraira, “I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, ‘The good deeds of any person will not make him enter Paradise.’ They (the Prophet’s companions) said, ‘Not even you, O Allah’s Apostle?’ He said, ‘Not even myself, unless Allah bestows His favor and mercy on me’” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 70, Number 577).
Narrated by Aisha, “The Prophet said, ‘Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and receive good news because one’s good deeds will not make him enter Paradise.’ They asked, ‘Even you, O Allah’s Apostle?’ He said, ‘Even I, unless and until Allah bestows His pardon and Mercy on me’” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 474).
Why is this? It’s because Allah has the ultimate authority to guide and misguide people! “… God guides or causes to go astray whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-wise” (Qs 14:4).
Does Allah care about our final destiny? How can we have His salvation? How can we be sure that we have done enough to please Him?
How Can You Please God?
The Quran and Hadith can’t give assurance for salvation. What about the Bible? The Bible tells about a rich, young ruler who was seeking salvation. Isa told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me [Isa]” (Injil, Matthew 19:21). This young man had followed the law in the Taurat perfectly. But, it wasn’t enough! He had to be willing to give up everything and follow Isa. This is the way to please God! “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Injil, John 14:6).
Isa Wants all People to Follow Him.
Isa Al-Masih loves all people. He gave Himself as a Holy Sacrifice to buy us out of sin’s penalty and bondage. If you accept Isa’s sacrifice, God won’t see any sin when He looks at you. There’s no other way, except through Him.
“But our High Priest [Isa Al-Masih] offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. … For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. … ‘I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds’” (Hebrews 10: 12-17).
