Many Muslims feel uncomfortable with the Christian faith. Why? Among many other things, Muslims believe that five things are problematic in Christianity: alcohol, pork, church, hijab, Hollywood! Could there be misunderstandings? Let’s look at these topics in light of Allah’s Word.
Alcohol
Qs 2:219 emphasizes that drinking alcohol is a major sin. Did you know that the Bible clearly prohibits drunkenness?
In the Gospels, drunkenness is included among the other major sins like fornication, impurity, and worship of idols.
Moreover, people who are addicted to drunkenness cannot enter the Kingdom of Allah (Romans 13:13; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:18). Allah hates drunkenness. That’s why many followers of Isa avoid alcohol!
Pork
Muslims think eating pork is a stumbling block to following Isa. Did you know there’s not a single verse that tells Isa Al-Masih’s followers to eat pork?
I’m a follower of Isa Al-Masih, and I avoid eating meat, including pork. Some people think that it’s unhealthy to eat meat. Christians are not required to eat pork.
Allah’s Word says Christians sin if they eat something, including pork, that goes against their conscience. They also sin if they eat something that weakens the faith of their fellow believers (1 Corinthians 8:13; 10:28).
Church
Religious rituals in all mosques are the same, but not so for churches. For example, some churches don’t allow musical instruments, men and women sit separately on the floor, and others don’t dress like people in the West.
Isa Al-Masih’s followers are not required to pray in church buildings. They can gather anywhere with other believers. Isa promises, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20). Email us if you desire to come to a church like this.
Hijab
Muslim women wear a hijab to cover their hair because of their beliefs.
Allah’s Word commands Christian women to dress modestly. They should avoid wearing clothing that is provocative.
Women who are devoted followers of Isa Al-Masih will be thoughtful with how they dress. They desire to glorify Allah.
Hollywood Christians
There are Muslims who are involved in corruption, gambling, free sex, drinking, etc. They call themselves Muslim, but their actions don’t align with their religion, right?
A lot of people in Hollywood call themselves Christians, but they’re not true followers of Isa. In fact, many are agnostics or atheists. Did you know that Isa said not everyone who calls Him Lord will go to heaven (Gospels, Matthew 7:21)?
As a follower of Isa, I avoid watching most Hollywood movies because many contradict principles found in Allah’s Word. Do you watch Hollywood movies? Email us about why many Muslims still watch Hollywood movies.
I’m sure you don’t reject Islam simply because some Muslims are corrupt, right? Therefore, you should not reject Isa Al-Masih as Savior because there are hypocritical Christians in Hollywood.
Salvation Is Found In a Person
Therefore, the problems of alcohol, pork, church, hijab, and Hollywood shouldn’t stop someone from becoming a follower of Isa Al-Masih.
All Muslims and followers of Isa agree that the only prophet who is holy and never sinned is Isa Al-Masih (Luke 1:35, Qs 19:19). Both the Quran and Gospels agree everything revolves around Isa in this world and in the last days (Colossians 1:15-16, Qs 3:45).
Everyone deserves a chance to become a follower of Isa Al-Masih. How do we become His followers? Receive the eternal salvation that He offers because He suffered on the cross for us!
