According to the news, Deddy Combuzer and Tio Nugroho used to be Christians but now are Muslims.
We also hear Indonesian celebrities who become followers of Isa Al-Masih. Including Asmirandah, Nafa Urbach and Rianti Cartwright.
Another celebrity is Lukman Sardi, who plays Muhammadiah Kyai Ahmad Dahlan in the movie, Sang Pencerah.
Why do celebrities change religions? Why must we know what religions promise their followers?
Freedom to Change Religions
Allah created people with the freedom to choose their own religion. Each of us can choose which religion to believe in.
Therefore, a government or person cannot force a person to believe only in a certain religion. Doesn’t each of us want to choose a religion according to our beliefs?
Reasons Celebrities Change Religions
The main reason celebrities change religions is because of their spouses.
Tamara Bleszynski converted from Christian to Islam before she married Teuku Rafly Pasha. Actress Happy Salma changed from Islam to Hinduism when she married Tjokorda Bagus.
However, Ovi Sovianti – a duet partner in Duo Serigala – now believes in Isa Al-Masih because she experienced joy after meeting Isa in a dream three days in a row.
Before deciding to change religions, we must learn about the religion’s teachings and promises. We don’t want to believe in the wrong faith and end up in hell. Isn’t it important to believe in a religion that has the assurance of salvation?

Promises of Islam to Muslims
Going to heaven isn’t guaranteed for Muslims because this depends on the amount of their good deeds.
The Quran states Muslims will suffer at the Judgement because of their sins. “For to us will be their return. Then it will be for us to call them to account” (Qs 88:25–26).
According to this Surah, Allah will hold Muslims accountable for their sins. Muhammad also writes that, “. . . anyone who is examined and accounted will perish” [Muttafaqun ‘alaihi].
What is your thought on these promises? Please explain in this email.
Isa Al-Masih’s Promises for His Followers
Centuries before Islam, Allah declared that Isa Al-Masih is “. . . our great God and Savior . . . ” (Injil, Titus 2:11). Isa Al-Masih is the Kalimatullah [the Word of Allah].
He came to earth in a human body to pay the penalty for sins because of His great love for us. “. . . Jesus Christ [Isa Al-Masih] came into the world to save sinners . . .” (Injil, 1Timothy 1:15). He chose to die in our place so “that whoever believes in him may have eternal life” (Injil, John 3:15).
Believing in Isa Al-Masih is the only sure promise of going to heaven. You will go to heaven if you put your faith in Isa!
