My name is Sharifah. I was born into a Malay home and was raised in a fully Islamic way. As a teenager, I tried to learn more about Islam. I tried to explain what Islam means to non-Muslims, especially Christians. To me, Islam was a perfect, complete, and universal religion.
The “Beauty” of Islam
I continued to study Islam so I could convey its “beauty” to my Christian friends. But instead, questions arose, and I wasn’t satisfied with them. I was also stumped by the answers I found. They caused more questions. From that point on, I searched for the true answers to the questions in my heart: Who is Isa Al-Masih who will judge us one day?
Questions and Answers
I tried to get the correct answers by asking devout Muslims about Isa and other Christian teachings. But they discouraged me from learning about Christianity. Since I did not get the answers I was looking for, I began to research on my own about the Quran and the Injil. After comparing the two, I found answers as to who Isa actually is.
John 14:6 is the Answer to Qs 1:6!
In the Injil, Isa declared: “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Injil, John 14:6). I often thought of this verse because Qs 1:6 says, “Show me the straight path.” John 14:6 explains that Isa Al-Masih is the straight path! So I didn’t need to find another path to know God intimately. I became confused. I began to have doubts about my previous confidence.
Isa is the Word of God!
I also found Qs 4:171, which says that Isa was sent by Allah and is His Word (Kalimatullah). Who is Isa Al-Masih if He is the Word of God? Is He God? Because for me, God’s Word cannot be separated from God Himself. Qs 3:45 confirms this. Therefore, Al-Masih is closest to Allah, as He is the Word of God. I also found this in John 1:1 and 14: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
Real Peace
The above verses convinced me of who Isa Al-Masih was, and with a brave heart, I decided to choose this path. After I believed in Isa Al-Masih, I began to have real peace. Before this, my life was upside down and filled with questions. Now I am free from such feelings. I have found the true answer.
I wasn’t hesitant or afraid to search the Injil when I had questions about my salvation, because I knew the Quran did not forbid me from doing so. In the Injil, I found the answers! I found a more complete truth about Allah and Isa Al-Masih. I knew from Al-Fatiha that there was a straight path, and through the Injil, I found that the path was not a what, but a who. He is Jesus Christ – Isa Al-Masih. Once I was sure of this truth, I made the decision to follow Him.
Come my friends, don’t let go of this opportunity to find truth and a new life through Isa Al-Masih. Read the Injil and believe in Him.
