A Devout Muslim Met Allah in Prison

13 December 2019 by Caleb Rahmat 2 Comments

My grandfather founded the Agung Mosque in a large Indonesian city. I was a devout Muslim and my family was well respected.

Since the time I was young, I diligently followed the Quran’s teachings. I also memorized numerous Quranic verses.

I thought I knew Allah until one day, I, a devout Muslim, met Allah in prison. How is that possible?

Hatred in My Heart

I was a very religious Muslim, fasting during Ramadan and always praying five times a day. One thing made me very angry. My heart was filled with hatred when I saw restaurants that served non-halal food. I even decided to destroy a restaurant.

Another time I burned down a Christian church. This was my way of showing my love for Allah. Do you agree this is how Muslims should demonstrate their love for Allah? Please email us here.

Life in the Prison

What I did was against the law so I ran away to another city. Later, I was caught by the police and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Life in jail was very boring and I couldn’t do much inside the prison. Another inmate came to visit me and brought a book. I borrowed his book because I was so bored.

A Muslim Met Allah

I realized the book was the Torah, Zabur and Injil. At first, I didn’t want read it. But there was nothing else to do or read.

Surprisingly, I found the books very interesting. I read them 25 times during the eight years I was in the prison!

I kept reading the Torah, Zabur and Injil because I always discovered new things. Moreover, I met Allah through reading His Word. My life was changed forever when I, a devout Muslim, met Allah in prison.

It broke my heart remembering my crime. I learned that hatred wasn’t the right way to obey Allah. I had sinned but Allah still loved me. Allah had forgiven my sins through Isa Al-Masih!

An Answered Prayer

I read in the Injil that Allah will provide us with everything we need. One day, my toothpaste ran out. I didn’t panic because I could just ask my wife.

However, she didn’t come. I really needed toothpaste so I prayed to Allah.

Later, a new prisoner was brought in. He gave me a plastic bag. The next day, he was released because the police caught the wrong person. When I opened the bag, there was toothpaste!

I was amazed at what happened. You might think it was a coincidence. But I’m convinced that Isa heard my prayer because He cares for me.

Isa Al-Masih’s Promise

Isa Al-Masih promises to all of His followers that, “If you ask me anything in my name [Isa], I will do it” (Gospels, John 14:14).

What happened convinced me that Isa loves me. It also encouraged me to learn more about Isa. Have you ever met Allah? Share your story here.

      Dear Ari,

      Thank you for your comment.

The story in the article is a true story. The Allah of Abraham is an Allah of love and truth. Allah revealed Himself to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Isaiah and countless others. Through the prophets, Allah promised of a coming Savior, Salvation. When Allah is in your heart with the Spirit of Isa, there is no wish for hell. There is a love to see everyone in Paradise with our Savior.

Allah so loved the world that He send His only Son, Isa, for us, so we can have salvation. To be able to spend eternity with Him. Allah’s love and willingness to reveal Himself has no cultural boundaries, no land boundaries, no emotional boundaries. Isa can enter anyone heart at any time in any land of any religion.

To feel something is not possible for Allah is putting limits on Him. Nothing is impossible for Allah.
