Is It true That the Present Day Torah and Gospel (Old and New Testaments) Are Not Pure?

29 December 2009 by Web Administrator 7 Comments

bigstock-Torah-Reading-In-A-Synagogue-1951089We believe that it is difficult to prove that the present-day Torah and Gospel (Old and New Testaments) “have been mixed (corrupted) by the hand of man.” Certainly this opinion is often heard, but where is the proof? What is more, at the time that the Koran was written, the Torah and Gospel were considered to be light and to be true. If this was not so, certainly there would not have been a command to receive them. It seems that Muhammad was sure that the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel that existed then were still true. If not, he would not have encouraged people to believe and follow those books (Qs 3:4,5; 5:66-68; 21:7).

Ancient Manuscripts

The ancient manuscripts of the books of the Torah and Gospel, like the Codex Vaticanus and Codex Alexandrinus, date from at least 350 years before the Koran existed, and their contents are the same as the present-day Torah and Injil (Old and New Testaments).. If it is true that the Old and New Testaments have been changed, when exactly were those books changed? Before the Koran was revealed or after it? Who changed them? Which parts of them were changed?

Christianity Had Already Spread Throughout The World

Tokoh-13

How had they possibly been changed when Christianity and the Bible at that time had been spread through many places in the world, so that even if a small part was changed, it would certainly have been made known. At that time, there were many manuscripts of the Bible which were distributed everywhere, so that it would be impossible to change all of the manuscripts that existed. Isn’t that so?

Also, how could God’s Word be changed when the Jews and Christians were very strong in defending and guarding it because they were certain that this Word is the revelation of God? Furthermore, what  would be purpose of Christians try to change or corrupt their own Holy Book? What advantages would they gain from doing such a thing?

Finally, if it is true that the Torah and Gospel (Old and New Testaments) were changed by men, would God Himself (who had revealed these Scriptures) remain silent, and in such a way, allow His Word to be ruined by the hand of man? It would be impossible for God who is all powerful to allow such a thing to happen!

Unique in human history, the Bible was and is like no other book. It’ the world best selling, most read, most famous, life-changing book. More people in the world hear it than read it. It has been translated into more than 340 languages. At least one book of the Bible has been translated into 2100 languages. By the time of Mohammed (pbuh) there were translations done in Syrian, Coptic (Egypt) and Aramaic (Palestine) languages as well as Latin (Romans).

Yes, the Bible is still the world best selling. It’s the most debated in whole time, yet it has stood the test of time.

Yes, they are not pure because the Bible itself says so in Jeremiah 8:8: “How can you say,”we are wise and we have the law of the lord, when behold, the lying pen of the scribes have handled it falsely”

You claim that all your scriptures were inspired. However, according to Luke, he wasn’t inspired to write His gospel. “It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto you in order, most excellent Theophilus, (Lk1:3)”. Luke is simply writing to his dear Theophilus as it felt good to do so. The Gospel of Matthew was not written by Matthew. “..And as Jesus passed forth thence, HE (Jesus) saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and He (Jesus) saith unto Him (Matthew), follow me (Jesus) and He (Matt) arose, and followed Him (Jesus). (Matthew 9:9)”. Clearly, Matthew could not have referred to himself as ‘Matthew’. The RSV bible says”, yet the KJV has grave defects. And these defects are so many and so serious.

Jeremiah prophesied against a few unfaithful Jewish scribes. They did not change the originals of the Taurat, as there were thousands of scrolls circulated already at the time of Jeremiah, which is more than a 1000 years after Moses in history.

Luke, under Allah’s inspiration had a ‘perfect understanding’ of history and he ‘felt good to do so’ under Allah’s inspiration, not only to write for Theophilus, but to you and me, ‘true Muslims’ for all times too, not only wrote he Luke, but also Acts, Have you read those books?

Matt, Mark, John as humble Jews never wrote about themselves as ‘me’ and “I” in the Holy Gospel, when they were pat of the story, in order to give glory to ‘Allah’ & “Kalimatullah” not to themselves.
Yes, if you understand the history and culture of Palestine 2000 years ago, you will know that Matthew referred to himself as “Matthew”

      Stefan and Muslim,

Everyone should trust the Bible. It’s written by Godly people who were inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit. This book is written so that everyone would read it and understand how God loves the world! Blessings.
