In the previous article, Muslims believe a sinful man can’t bear the sins of others. But, there is a possibility for a sinless man to bear other people’s sins.
Every prophet before Isa Al-Masih have sinned. Did Muhammad and Isa Al-Masih ever sin?
Muhammad Sinned
According to the Quran, Muhammad sinned.
“. . . ask forgiveness for your sin [Muhammad] . . .” (Qs 40:55, 47:19).
“That Allah may forgive for you [Muhammad] what preceded of your sin . . .” (Qs 48:2).
Please email us if you want to know more about how your sins can be forgiven!
Isa Al-Masih Never Sinned
Allah commanded all prophets except Isa to seek forgiveness for their sins. The Quran states that Isa Al-Masih is holy.
“He said: ‘Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son’” (Qs 19:19).
“Every newborn child is touched by the devil . . . except for Isa Al-Masih, Mary’s son” (Bukhari-Anbiya, Chapter 44).
The same principle is written in the Bible about the holiness of Isa. “But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.” (Injil, 1 John 3:5).
It is clear that a person with sin cannot bear the sins of others. But a sinless man can bear the sins of others. Thus, since Isa has never sinned, He is able to bear sins of others.
Substitution for Sin in Islam
The concept of substitution for sin exists in Islam. In Shahih Muslim, we read that Muslims will bring their sins to Allah, and then Allah will put the sins on Jews and Christians.
“On Judgment Day, a group of Muslims will come bearing their sins the size of a mountain. And then God forgives them of their sins, and then put the sins on Jews and Christians” (Shahih Muslim 4971). (Readers should know that this strange teaching, where God will put Muslim’s sins on Jews and Christians, is not in the Bible!)
Can Isa Bear the Sins of People?
Who is the only person that can bear sins the size of a mountain? The answer is Isa Al-Masih. About 2000 years ago, Isa bore the sins of humanity on the cross. After He died, He was resurrected by God.
“. . . and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6).
Sin is a heavy burden. If we want to be freed from all of our sins (past, present, and future), we have to follow Isa. If you want your sin to be borne by Isa Al-Masih, please contact us.
